The Perfect Bite

“Seven,” Gina counted as she set the table, then remembered.

She smiled, recalling the way she always had to have a bit of everything on her plate before she could chew.

“The perfect bite.”

The extra plate returned to the cabinet, a mistake Gina frequently made over the years.

This month’s prompt – start with the word seven, has to end with years. Exactly 49 words.

I really appreciated the way you kept this upbeat, instead of swinging into melancholy. It’s sometimes hard to remember that sometimes the happy memory pushes sadness away. You did it beautifully here.
